Frequently Asked Questions
-
Coaching is a thought-provoking, collaborative process designed to help you think more deeply, increase self-awareness and make intentional choices about how you move forward.
Unlike consulting or mentoring, coaching isn't about someone else giving you the answers. It creates the space to explore challenges, consider different perspectives and identify your own solutions and actions.
My approach is primarily non-directive, although I may offer observations, introduce relevant frameworks or share tools where I believe they will support your thinking.
-
Clients describe me as warm, calm, grounded, empathetic, challenging and non-judgemental.
I think of myself as a thinking partner. I create a confidential space where you can step away from the demands of day-to-day work, slow down and think honestly about what's happening, what you want and what might need to change.
You can expect powerful questions, reflection, challenge and sometimes silence. I may also offer observations or introduce frameworks and different perspectives to support your thinking.
My aim is for you to feel both supported and stretched — safe enough to think honestly and challenged enough to see yourself, your choices and your impact differently.

I work with leaders, managers, founders and professionals across a wide range of sectors, organisations and career stages.
Clients come to coaching for many different reasons - from stepping into a more senior role, developing confidence and leadership presence or navigating complex relationships, to career progression, organisational change or deciding what they want next.
I also have particular experience supporting women and working parents through career transition, return to work and changes in professional identity.
Alongside individual coaching, I partner with organisations to deliver executive coaching, leadership development, facilitation and coaching skills programmes.

Every coaching engagement is tailored to the individual and their goals.
We usually begin with an introductory conversation to explore what you would like to achieve and whether we are a good fit.
If we decide to work together, we agree the goals, approach, number and frequency of sessions and how we will review progress.
For organisation-sponsored coaching, this may also include an initial contracting conversation with the sponsor to agree objectives and expectations.
Most coaching relationships take place over several months, allowing time to reflect, experiment with different approaches and embed meaningful change between sessions.
-
Yes. I partner with organisations through executive coaching, leadership development, facilitation and coaching skills programmes.
I design learning experiences around the needs of the organisation and its leaders, with a particular focus on creating practical, engaging and psychologically safe environments where people can reflect, practise and develop.
Organisational coaching engagements can also include sponsor contracting, agreed development objectives and review points, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality within the coaching relationship.
Please get in touch if you'd like to discuss what you are looking to achieve.
-
Coaching focuses on helping you think, develop greater awareness and identify your own solutions and actions.
A mentor will typically draw on their own experience to offer advice and guidance, while a consultant is usually engaged for their expertise and recommendations.
Therapy and coaching can sometimes explore similar themes, but they are different professional disciplines. Coaching is generally focused on development, choices and moving forward towards agreed outcomes.
Where appropriate, I may integrate elements of coaching and mentoring, but we will always agree this explicitly.
-
Every coaching engagement is different, but common areas include:
Leadership confidence, presence and impact
Stepping into a new or more senior role
Managing and influencing stakeholders
Leading teams and managing up
Courageous and difficult conversations
Navigating challenging relationships
Decision-making and prioritisation
Leading through change and uncertainty
Leadership identity and personal brand
Career progression and transition
Resilience and sustainable performance
We will agree the focus and desired outcomes together at the beginning of our work and review these as the coaching progresses.
-
The outcomes depend on what you want to achieve.
Clients commonly report greater clarity and confidence, increased self-awareness, stronger communication and relationships, greater leadership impact and an improved ability to navigate difficult or complex situations.
The purpose of coaching isn't to provide a quick fix. It is to create meaningful, sustainable change in how you think, make decisions, communicate and lead.
-
Yes. Confidentiality is fundamental to the coaching relationship.
At the beginning of our work we will agree clear boundaries around confidentiality and the limited circumstances in which information may need to be disclosed, in line with professional and ethical requirements.
For organisation-sponsored coaching, we will also agree in advance what, if anything, may be shared with the sponsor. The content of individual coaching conversations remains confidential unless otherwise agreed or required by law.

The first step is an introductory conversation.
This gives us an opportunity to discuss what you are looking for, answer any questions and decide whether I am the right coach or facilitator for you or your organisation.
